Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker has joined the still-developing state board that provides oversight to police departments and officers across the commonwealth, bringing nearly three decades of law enforcement experience to the job. Appointed by Gov. Maura Healey, Baker will sit on the POST Commission , the nine-member board created by a 2020 policing reform law . Sparked by the murder of George Floyd, state legislators intended for the commission to standardize police training and regulations across Massachusetts and create a uniform process to certify officers for their jobs.
